The best prawns in Lima

If you are looking for a trip surrounded by beautiful nature and excellent food, the town of Azpita is an optionthat you should take into consideration. The place is located just an hour and a half from Lima, and it is known for its good weather all year round and its excellent views of the Mala River valley.

Now, the food deserves its section. The purpose of my trip was to try the dishes based on prawns, and I must say I did not regret it. Although there are many restaurants, we chose Balcon del Cielo, probably one of the best known, but with reasonable prices, excellent seasoning and good location. Azpita has several dishes based on prawns. I went to the Balcon del Cielo restaurant, and I asked for the speciality of the house.

Prawn is the key ingredient of Azpitian cuisine. In summer (between December and March ) there is a prohibition to use prawns. The rest of the year, we can taste them in exquisite versions. Here we go the route of the flavour that we propose:

When coming by the main road, we first come across El Mirador de Azpitia. You should the house speciality and enjoy the view of the valley.

Then we pass by the Mayoral de Azpitia. Then, we continue to the Balcón del Cielo, one of the best-known restaurants in the town. You can try there "Arroz con pato" (rice with duck), pisco sour and prawns. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking.

From the front (passing a curve), we find La Posada del Cielo: recreation with swimming pool, games for children and dishes based on salted type prawns. Complete your visit knowing the winery of Pisco El Sarcay. The tasting of the different varieties of liquor is free.

However, the biggest novelty of the place is its restaurant Los Hornitos de Azpitia. The restaurant combines the exquisite cuisine with the experiential. Everything is cooked at the moment, in front of you, on the grill, firewood or the clay oven.
